CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
Heery/Russell was selected to coordinate and oversee Phase I of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System's capital improvement projects. Upon issuance of the notice-to-proceed, Heery/Russell (December 2010) commenced planning to develop 8 new libraries:
- Alpharetta
- East Roswell
- Milton
- Northwest Atlanta
- Palmetto
- Southeast Atlanta
- Stewart-Lakewood
- Wolf Creek
- Auburn Avenue Research Library
- South Fulton Library
The Heery/Russell team will oversee and coordinate the multiple projects. One of Heery/Russell's first tasks was to develop a detailed timeline of Phase I which includes:

- Scheduling all project planning activities
- Release of RFP's and selection: 10 architects/engineers, 10 construction managers, a wayfinding consultant, a technology consultant and a fixtures, furniture & equipment (ff&e) consultant (starting early June 2011)
- Schematic design/design development/construction documents (2011)
- Construction (beginning in 2012)
- Library openings (2013)
This significant Capital Improvement Program will create many opportunities for architects, engineers, contractors, furniture dealers and other vendors to participate. On May 4, 2011, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved the use of Construction Management at Risk as the delivery method for these projects. As such, the construction manager for each library project will work closely with the design team during the pre-construction phase.
