Sprite Sparks Parks Grant Helps Fulton County's Burdett Park Get Back In The Game | Print |

Beginning this fall, local teens will be able to express their most dynamic basketball moves on a refurbished local court. Burdett Park recently received a $15,000 grant based on votes it earned through the national Sprite Spark Parks Project initiative, which refreshes courts in public parks and recreation centers throughout the country.

Voting in the Sprite Spark Parks Project, a joint program from Sprite and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), took place between March 28 and May 31 on SpriteSparkParks.com. Thanks to the more than 76,000 votes it received, Burdett Park, which is located at 2945 Burdett Road, College Park, GA 30349, has been awarded one of the coveted grants.

Flu Vaccinations Available at Fulton County Health Centers | Print |

Flu season is around the corner.  Fulton County Health Services encourages everyone to get vaccinated, especially children.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that getting vaccinated is the first and most important step in protecting against this serious disease. While there are many different flu viruses, the flu vaccine protects against the three main flu strains that research indicates will cause the most illness during the flu season.  The Fulton Department of Health and Wellness is providing flu shots at seven centers from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm.

Fulton County Health Services to Conduct Barrier Sprayings to Increase West Nile Virus Prevention Efforts | Print |

First Barrier Spraying will begin at Wolf Creek Amphitheater as a precaution to protect Concert Attendees for the Labor Day Weekend Concert

Fulton County Health Services will begin barrier spraying areas identified as sites where mosquitoes tested positive as carriers of the West Nile Virus. In preparation for the concert at Wolf Creek Amphitheater being held on Saturday, September 1, 2012, Health Services will barrier spray the venue in order to best protect citizens and visitors attending the concert. The spraying will have no adverse effect on the health of concert goers, residents or businesses located in the surrounding area.
