Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer‚Äôs Market Begins 2012 Season June 13 with Two Mobile Units | Print |

On Wednesday, June 13, 2012, Fulton County Cooperative Extension kicks-off its second season and will roll-out two mobile units to expand the service areas of the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer‚Äôs Market program. Mobile unit stops will be announced at the kick-off which will take place at 10:00 a.m. at The Shrine of the Black Madonna located at 946 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd., Atlanta, GA 30310.  The Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer‚Äôs Market 2012 Season will run from June 13 until September 12.

Fulton County Receives Historically Low Interest Rate for Tax Anticipation Notes | Print |

On June 6, 2012, Fulton County Government issued $120 million of tax anticipation notes. Bank of America Merrill Lynch was the winning bidder with a net interest cost of 0.161277%. The County will save approximately $399 thousand in interest payments compared to the 2012 budgeted amount.

The interest rate was the lowest the County has ever received. Fulton County Finance officials are not aware of any jurisdiction in Georgia receiving a lower rate. The low interest was due, in part, to Fulton County’s designation with the best possible short term credit ratings by S&P and Fitch. Fulton County was rated as SP-1+ and F1+, respectively, from the two agencies.

Fulton Commissioner Liz Hausmann Invites Residents to District 3 Office Grand Opening & Community Open House | Print |

Fulton County Commissioner Liz Hausmann (District 3) invites residents to attend the grand opening of her district office on Saturday, June 16, followed by a Community Open House.  The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with an official ribbon cutting scheduled for 10 a.m.

Fulton Commissioners Vote to Accept $25,000 State Grant to Support the Teen DADS Program | Print |

The state administered federally funded Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) educates youth on both abstinence and contraception

Fulton County Commissioners voted today to direct the Housing and Human Services Department to apply for and accept a $25,000 grant from the State of Georgia, Department of Human Services.  The vote came during the regular June 6, 2012, meeting of the Board of Commissioners.

Fulton Celebrates Opening of New Regional Health Center | Print |

Fulton County is holding a Grand Opening celebration at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 7,2012, to dedicate the newly constructed Adamsville Regional Health Center (ARHC) located at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr., SW, Atlanta, GA 30331.  An exciting day of activities is planned including a brief program, tours of the facility, games and entertainment for children, and refreshments.  Visitors will have an opportunity to meet county leaders and the health and social service providers who will staff the new center.

State of Seniors Survey Initial Findings Show Many Fulton Seniors Enjoy a Good Quality of Life; However, Gaps Exist for Those with Limited Incomes | Print |

Nearly 1,000 Surveys completed from April 26, 2012 to May 16, 2012

Preliminary findings of a Fulton County State of Seniors Survey indicate that many Fulton Seniors are enjoying a moderate to high quality of life; however, gaps remain for those with limited incomes and support.  The Survey is being conducted by Fulton County in collaboration with the A.L. Burruss Institute of Public Service and Research utilizing a Random Digit Dial Survey and an Online Survey of adults ages 55 years and above living in Fulton County.
