Fulton Voters Approve Expanded Freeport Exemption by 57% | Print |

During the November 8 General Election, Fulton County voters approved expansion of Freeport Exemption to allow inventory of e-commerce distribution centers to be exempted from Fulton County ad valorem (property) taxes.

More than 57% of voters approved the measure, which was made possible by HB 935, adopted by the General Assembly in 2016.

The expanded Freeport exemption is intended to encourage more e-commerce distribution centers to locate in Fulton. Across the state, growth in e-commerce is expected to create skilled jobs.

Fulton County Vice Chairman Liz Hausmann sponsored legislation to bring this referendum before Fulton County voters.

“This gives Fulton a significant advantage in attracting e-commerce facilities that come with high paying jobs,” said Vice Chairman Hausmann. Expanding the Freeport Exemption is good for business, focuses on future investment and economic growth in Fulton County. It’s a clear win!”
