Atlanta, Georgia – Courts in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit have confirmed closures for Tuesday, January 11, 2011, due to inclement weather.

“Due to the continued decline in weather conditions, it is important that we take a proactive approach to the safety of employees and citizens” said Chief State Court Judge Patsy Porter.  The Circuit has announced that Superior, State, Juvenile, Magistrate and Probate Courts will remain closed.  Officials expect to resume normal business operations on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 if the weather permits.

Court officials advised that jurors who received summons for service on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 should not report due to inclement weather.  Jurors are asked to continue to monitor the County’s website and local news outlets regarding updates for January 12, 2011.  If normal business operations resume on Wednesday, jurors should report to Superior or State Court pursuant to the instructions indicated on their summons. “We realize this is an inconvenience for jurors but their safety and well-being are of critical importance to us” said Acting Chief Superior Court Judge Alford J. Dempsey.
