Fulton County Cooperative Extension will host the 2012 Wonderful World of Horses at their 2nd Annual Equine Education Day at.  The event will once again introduce Fulton County children and youth to the equine industry and the many exciting career opportunities available working with horses.

Equine Education Day is from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 28th. According to Purdue University Equine Business Management program, There are 9.2 million horses in the United States.  4.6 million Americans are involved in the horse industry as owners, service providers, employees and volunteers.  The industry directly provides 460,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs.

“Once again, we hope the children and teens who attend this event will look at the equine industry as a career option,” states Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension. “In 2011, over 300 kids participated and enjoyed the day.”

Participants will enjoy a mini-rodeo featuring riding demonstrations including the steeplechase and dressage. they can also talk with representatives from the Atlanta Black Rodeo Association and the Horse Industry Committee of Georgia.  Equine educators from the University of Georgia and Fort Valley State University will be available to talk about the industry and various careers associated with horses and the care of horses. 


Fulton County Cooperative Extension hosts monthly classes on topics such as gardening, nutrition, health and fitness, diabetes and financial management. Classes are held in various locations throughout the county.  Phone (404) 332-2400 or log-on to for more information.
