The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority (The FDHA) in partnership with Fulton County Government will host a Community Health Forum on Monday, June 25 to engage and educate the public about various health-related issues, including healthcare costs, access to healthcare, preventative health services and the Affordable Care Act.

Hosted by Fulton County Commission Chairman John H. Eaves and FDHA Chairman Thomas Dortch, Jr., the forum will be held from noon – 6:30 p.m. at the Fulton County Government Center  located at 141 Pryor St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30303.

All residents of metro Atlanta are encouraged to attend and actively participate in the various listening sessions. Both Chairmen are encouraging feedback from attendees as the goal is to hear from residents, share information critical to preventative care and engage in dialogue about specific health issues.

“We are excited about partnering with The FDHA to bring such a comprehensive health forum to Fulton County,” said Fulton Commission Chairman Eaves. “We share the authority’s commitment to improving the health of all people through increased awareness, access and preventative care.”

“The goal of these forums is to increase dialogue about health issues, promote healthy living, and to provide important and useful resources for residents  of metro Atlanta so they can make informed and educated decisions about their personal health and that of their families,” said FDHA Chairman Dortch.

The all day health forum will also include special guest, Stepp Stewart, the Dance Fitness Guru from The Dr. Oz Show, he will lead two energetic exercise demonstrations.  There will be cooking demonstrations, health screenings and assessments; and health-related exhibitors with a variety of information.

Exhibitors offering screenings include the Fulton County Health Department, Diabetes Association of Atlanta, Sickle Cell Foundation of Atlanta and the Sadie G. Mays Health and Rehabilitation Center. Other exhibitors participating include Grady Senior Services, the League of Women Voters, and Community Voices from Morehouse School of Medicine, just to name a few.

This forum is the third in a series sponsored by the FDHA. The first was held during The FDHA’s 70th Anniversary celebration in December 2011 and the second was held in DeKalb County in March.
