Voter Registration Deadline is October 7 for November Municipal Elections | Print |

The Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections reminds residents who intend to vote in the General Municipal Elections on November 5, 2013, that the voter registration deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013.

Richard Barron, Director of Registration & Elections, encourages new Fulton County residents to register to vote and recommends that all registered voters ensure that their information on file with the Department is up-to-date.   Voters can verify their information by logging into My Voter Page at  http://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do To register to vote in the state of Georgia, you must satisfy these requirements: 1) be a citizen of the United States; 2) be a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote; 3) be at least 18 years of age on Election Day. Once the Department receives the voter registration application, precinct cards are mailed within three weeks of that receipt.

Also, you may not register to vote if you are currently:

  • Serving any sentence imposed by the conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude.
  • Judicially determined to be mentally incompetent.

You can register to vote or update your voter information at one of three County offices:

  • Fulton County Registration and Elections Main Office, 130 Peachtree St, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303
  • Fulton County North Service Center Office, 7741 Roswell Road, Atlanta, GA 30350
  • Fulton County South Service Center Office, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA 30349

Voter registration forms are also available by downloading a postage paid voter registration application from the Georgia Secretary of State website, and all branches of the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library.   The form is also available for download at www.fultonelections.com.

Important:  Residents who have moved to Fulton County from elsewhere in Georgia, should complete the voter registration form to update their name and/or address.

Voters who are registering for the first time in Georgia, must provide one of the following forms of identification:

  • a Georgia Driver’s License, even if expired;
  • any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a FREE Voter ID Card issued by Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS);
  • valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state;
  • valid U.S. passport ID;
  • valid U.S. military photo ID
  • valid tribal photo ID;
  • a copy of a current utility bill;
  • a bank statement;
  • a government check;
  • a paycheck; or
  • any other government document that shows the name and address of the individual

For Fulton County residents who are reluctant to register as voters because they are concerned that it increases their chances of being called for jury duty, Barron seeks to dispel that myth, “If you obtain a driver’s license, your likelihood of being called for jury duty is at least the same as registering to vote.”

Organizations seeking to conduct voter registration drive should contact the department at 404-730-7072.
