Fulton Residents Urged to Enroll in Code Red & Monitor Severe Weather Updates | Print |

With the National Weather Service predicting the possibility of severe weather over the next several days, the Atlanta-Fulton Emergency Management Agency encourages residents to register to receive CodeRed severe weather updates.

“Being informed is the first step in being prepared.  During severe weather, timely information can save lives,” said Matthew Kallmyer, Director of the Atlanta-Fulton Emergency Management Agency. “Code Red is a valuable tool for real-time severe weather updates.”

Fulton County residents can enroll in Code Red online by clicking https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/0206D3CBDC2E.

“Code Red is especially valuable because residents can receive phone calls to alert them of threats in in their area, even in overnight hours where they may miss media weather reports or text alerts,” said Mr. Kallmyer.

The National Weather Service has predicted heavy rainfall overnight and during early morning hours, including possible flooding, hail, wind and tornadoes.  Residents should exercise extreme caution when driving in darkness, when standing water may be difficult to see.

If flooding occurs, residents should move to higher ground away from rivers, streams, creeks, and storm drains. Drivers should not drive through or around barricades . . . they are in place for safety.  Be alert to signs of flash flooding and be ready to evacuate.

In addition to Code Red, residents should monitor weather updates from local media sources. NOAA Weather Radios are another helpful resource for severe weather updates.
