Fulton County Fire Rescue Dedicates Two New Engines | Print |

The Fulton County Fire rescue Department held a dedication ceremony to put into service two new Spartan ERV Gladiator Fire Engines. The dedication ceremony was held to honor fallen firefighters, Felix Roberts and Harold "Hoot" Gibson on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Public Safety Memorial at Wolf Creek located at 3025 Merck Road, College Park, GA 30349.

“We proudly dedicate the two engines to honor two men who epitomized service to the residents of south Fulton County,” stated Fire Chief Larry Few. “Our fire fighter family understands the sacrifice these great men and their families made to serve the residents of Fulton County.”

The event well attended with comments made by Chief Larry Few, Commissioner William “Bill” Edwards, and Deputy Fire Chief Wesley Stubbs and Deputy Fire Chief Jack Butler. Commissioner Robb Pitts and County Manger Dwight Ferrell were also in attendance. The dedication was led by Chaplin Warren Henry who had attendees participate in the ceremony by laying hands on the engine as he prayed for the safety and protection of the firefighters.

The new engines are top of the line and are a welcomed addition to the prevention and firefighting efforts of the Fulton County Fire Rescue Department. “The addition of these engines will enable us to rotate vehicles which will help to better maintain the entire fleet,” said Chief Few. The Engines have been assigned to fire stations #5 and #23.

Fire engine 5 was dedicated to the memory of Fire Fighter Felix Roberts and fire engine 23 was dedicated to the memory of Fire Fighter Harold "Hoot" Gibson. Memorial plaques with their names are permanently mounted on the two engines.

The two (2) new Spartan Gladiator fire engines were purchased from Capital Funds for $402,000 each. The Gladiator Fire Engines were custom built by Spartan ERV located in Brandon, South Dakota. The commanding custom cab and chassis is built from the ground up to offer unmatched strength and performance. The spacious cab interior of the Spartan Gladiator provides ample room for crew members, equipment and storage. The platinum color cab is unique to Fulton County.
