Fulton Fresh Kicks-off 2015 Season on June 10th | Print |

Fulton County Cooperative Extension kicks off the 2015 Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmers Market season with a ceremony on Wednesday, June 10 at 10:00 am at Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 291 Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30331.

This year marks the 5th anniversary for the Fulton Fresh Farmers Market program that provides fresh produce and nutrition education to residents living in communities identified by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as “food deserts.” Food deserts are large geographic areas where mainstream grocery stores are scarce or missing.

The Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market program is provided at no cost to residents living in identified underserved communities. Residents must live in the community and attend a nutrition education class that includes a healthy cooking demonstration in order to receive fresh produce.

Call (404) 332-2400 for more information about the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market program.   A complete schedule of mobile unit stops will be posted after the kick-off ceremony. Please visit http://www.fultoncountyga.gov/fcced-home.

Citizens in need of reasonable accommodations due to a disability including communications in an alternative format should contact the Disability Liaison in Cooperative Extension at (404) 332-2400. For Georgia Relay Access, dial 711.
