Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Junior Deputy Program | Print |

Fulton County students have an opportunity to build character and learn more about the justice system through the new Junior Deputy Program initiated by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office. The program starts this summer for youth ages 12 to 16. Junior Deputies will receive an introduction to law enforcement, learn about the various functions of the Sheriff’s Office, participate in character building and leadership skills exercises along with activities to promote mental and physical wellness.

Students will receive an introduction to CPR, Code Red (fire drill simulation at the Fulton County Jail), defensive tactics demonstrations, verbal judo, proper etiquette when approached by law enforcement and physical fitness.

The Junior Deputy Program will be held July 13 – 17, 2015, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sessions will take place at the Fulton County Public Safety Training Center, 3025 Merk Road, College Park, GA 30349 near the Wolf Creek Amphitheater unless otherwise noted.

The Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications now. Candidates must submit the application, an essay, and a recommendation from a teacher or school administrator at the same time to be considered eligible for the program. Students must attend school in Fulton County, be related to a Fulton County employee or live in Fulton County. The cost is $45. Participants will receive a shirt and other materials.
