On Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Fulton County Parks and Recreation will unveil new state-of-the-art playground equipment at Welcome All Park.   The new equipment is the first installation of 6 planned for Fulton County’s Parks and is part of the 2015 budget where 363,000 dollars in funds were approved for these upgrades by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners.

Immediately after the unveiling, the Atlanta Hawks and Fulton County Parks and Recreation officials will host a ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m. introducing the newly renovated basketball courts at Welcome All Park.   The partnership between the Hawks and Fulton County Parks and Recreation was the brainchild of Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman John H. Eaves.   Both Chairman Eaves and District 5 Commissioner Marvin Arrington, Jr. plan to participate in the special ceremony alongside representatives from the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club.

Through this effort, the Hawks are contributing more than $44,000 to renovate the courts with top shelf improvements that will transform the courts into state-of-the-art and top notch facilities. The Atlanta Hawks Court Renovation Program builds and renovates basketball courts in underprivileged neighborhoods throughout the Atlanta area each year. At each location, the Hawks put down new pavement, install new backboards, rims, nets and fencing, as well as make any other needed repairs.

Tony Phillips the Director of Parks and Recreation said, “This is a tremendous opportunity for the Department of Parks and Recreation but more importantly, for the citizens and community we serve.   We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Atlanta Hawks as we strive to provide the best possible programs and facilities for Fulton County residents.”

The Hawks kicked off   their partnership with Fulton County Parks and Recreation by hosting basketball camps Monday July 20, 2015 through Friday, July 24, 2015 at all 6 sites.   The Hawks are also presenting scholarships to participants at each site.
