Fulton County Board of Commissioners Elect Commissioner Bob Ellis Vice Chairman | Print |
At the Fulton County Board of Commissioners’ May 3, 2017 meeting, Fulton County District 2 Commissioner Bob Ellis was elected the Board of Commissioners’ Vice-Chairman. Ellis replaces the late District 4 Commissioner Joan P. Garner who passed away in April.
“I am honored to follow in the footsteps of my former colleague and friend Commissioner Joan Garner,” said Commissioner Bob Ellis. “I will strive to serve with the same integrity, honor and dignity that Joan exhibited as Vice Chairman.”
Commissioner Ellis was first elected to the Board of Commissioners in November 2014 and re-elected to a four-year term in 2016. He is the Fulton County Commissioner for District 2, which encompasses Milton, Mountain Park and large parts of Alpharetta, Roswell, and Sandy Springs. During his tenure on the County Commission, Commissioner Ellis has served as Executive Sponsor for Fulton’s Strategic Priority “All People Trust Government is Efficient, Effective and Fiscally Sound.” He also serves on the Fulton County Water Authority Board, the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority Board and is Chairman of the Fulton County Audit Committee.
“Fulton County is moving forward on a number of key initiatives including improving our facilities, upgrading our IT system and overhauling our criminal justice system,” said Ellis. “I will work closely with my fellow commissioners to ensure we make sound decisions on all fronts.”
Commissioner Ellis is a native of Commerce, Georgia and a long-term resident of Fulton County. He and his wife Jennifer, an elementary school teacher at Birmingham Falls Elementary in Fulton County, have three children and reside in Milton. A proud graduate of the University of Georgia, Commissioner Ellis received an honors degree in Finance. Bob is an active member of Northbrook United Methodist Church in Roswell, GA where he has served in numerous leadership roles and teaches Sunday school.
On a professional level, Mr. Ellis is currently Senior Vice President at Chubb Limited and during his twenty-four year career in the insurance industry; he has held a variety of underwriting and leadership roles. Presently, he serves in an executive capacity within Chubb’s North America Financial Lines Division where he has leadership responsibilities across a multi-state territory.
