FREE Child Safety Seat Workshops Offered in Fulton During September's Child Passenger Safety Month | Print |

Safely Transporting Children—A Matter of Life and Death

Fulton Board of Health Offers Classes on Properly Securing Kids in Car Booster Seats, Seat Belts

We’re doing better, but need to do more.

That’s the consensus of child safety experts who remind us during September as Child Passenger Safety Month that vehicle accidents remain the number one cause of deaths for children under 14-years-old in our country.   Roughly three American kids die each day in crashes; nearly 500 per day are injured.   In 2015—the last year National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data are available—47 children were killed in traffic accidents on Georgia roadways.

To heighten citizen awareness of the importance of properly securing car seats, Fulton Health’s Safe Kids program, in collaboration with city Fire Departments and local governments, is conducting child passenger safety seat workshops.   Parents and caregivers will learn how to determine proper car seat size and how to make sure seats are correctly installed.  Heading into Child Passenger Safety Week, September 17th - 23rd, here’s the schedule for the five workshops:
