South Fulton residents take advantage of pet adoption and pet services at South Fulton’s Canine Crossing

Despite the morning clouds and a chance of rain, South Fulton residents came out in numbers Saturday, May 22, 2010 to the First Annual Pet Adoption Festival at Canine Crossing.  The event was sponsored by Fulton County Parks and Recreation along with Fulton County Animal Control Services.

Several residents were able to get their pets vaccinated while others came out to adopt a new pet to add to their family.   Dorothy Jane Waters an East Point resident who came to the event with a friend after acquiring a dog from her, stated that the prices were reasonable and that she really appreciated being able to get her new poodle vaccinated for ten dollars. “I think the pet adoption festival was a great idea and they should have these events more often,” complimented Waters.

According to Stevie Flowers, Program and Training Coordinator for Fulton County Parks and Recreation, the overall purpose of the event was to get as many cats and dogs adopted as possible.

On Saturday, a total of 3 dogs were adopted and 20 dogs were vaccinated.  Organizers plan to host the pet adoption event every year.
