MARTA Prepares Customers for Upcoming Service and Fare Changes | Print |

MARTA is helping customers prepare for its upcoming service changes on September 25th and pass price increases on October 3rd, which were adopted as part of the FY 2011 budget.  Extensive information about bus, rail, fare and customer service changes is available on MARTA’s website at www.itsmarta.com and by calling Customer Service at 404-848-5000.  Notices are posted on signs in rail stations, bus bays, trains and buses and new bus schedules will be available by September 20th.

In order to address a $69.34 million budget deficit for FY 2011, MARTA implemented a 10.2 percent reduction in bus service (131 routes to 91 routes), a 14.2 percent reduction in rail service, an increase in weekly, monthly and Mobility pass prices, the closure of two RideStores (Lenox and Lindbergh), reduced customer service call center hours, a reduction in the number of Station Agents assigned throughout the system, and designation of public restrooms at nine major transfer points and end-of-line stations.

In addition, on September 30th MARTA will stop accepting tokens.  Until that time, customers may use tokens to purchase a Breeze ticket from a Breeze Vending Machine or exchange 10-200 tokens for trips by bringing tokens and a Breeze Card to the Five Points or Airport RideStores.  MARTA is not providing cash refunds for tokens.

MARTA recently held seven community information sessions throughout its service area to answer questions and help customers plan for the changes.  More than 260 people attended these meetings.
