Fulton County Water Resources Invites Residents to South Fulton Demonstration Garden Tour | Print |

The Fulton County Department of Water Resources invites residents to attend a tour of the South Fulton Demonstration Garden on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The one-acre garden is adjacent to the Camp Creek Water Reclamation Facility, 7472 Cochran Road, College Park, Georgia 30349.   The Garden tour coincides with National Pollinator Week.   Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in crafts and fun educational activities.

The purpose of the South Fulton Demonstration Garden is to raise awareness of sustainable gardening and the role of pollinators.   Sustainable gardening uses significantly less water than conventional gardening and places a focus on native plant species.   Pollinators play a significant role in native plant communities, wildlife habitats and the production of food crops. The site includes an outdoor classroom for education on the importance of water-wise landscaping and wildlife, as well as pollinators.

The South Fulton Demonstration Garden was recently designated as a Certified Pollinator Habitat by Monarch Across Georgia.   This designation indicates that the Garden provides habitats suitable for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators.
