Fulton County Residents Encouraged to Register Early for November 4th General Election | Print |

The Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections encourages residents to register to vote or to update their information to ensure they will have a smooth voting experience. The voter registration deadline is Monday, October 6, 2014.

In Fulton County, residents can register to vote online, at their city hall, the Georgia Department of Driver Services, any Atlanta Fulton County Library Branch, and also at one of the three registration and elections offices or by mail.

Residents can use two new technological advances launched by Georgia Secretary of State Bran Kemp earlier this year. The new technological advances consist of a voter registration app for Android platforms and iPhones, along with the ability to register to vote online. Citizens need to have a valid Georgia driver’s license in order to use the online voter registration system. Fulton County has included the state’s link to register online on its website, www.fultonelections.com. Click on the link to register. Just search for “GA Votes” in the app store.

To register to vote in the state of Georgia, you must: 1) be a citizen of the United States; 2) be a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote; 3) be at least 18 years of age on Election Day. Residents registering to vote for the first time and registered voters who want to update their information both need to fill out a voter registration form. Once the Department receives the completed form, precinct cards are mailed within two to three weeks of that receipt.

Residents can also obtain a voter registration form at one of three County offices: 1) Fulton County Government Center (130 Peachtree Street, SW, Suite 2186 Atlanta, GA 30303); 2) Fulton County North Service Center (7741 Roswell Road, Atlanta, GA 30350); 3) Fulton County South Service Center (5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA 30349). Voter registration forms are also available at the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office and all Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library branches. You can also download a voter registration form at www.fultonelections.com.

If you are registering for the first time in Georgia, you must provide one of the following forms of identification:
• Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a FREE Voter ID Card issued by the county registrar’s office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS);
• A Georgia Driver’s License, even if expired;
• A valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state;
• A valid U.S. passport ID;
• A valid U.S. military photo ID;
• A valid tribal photo ID;
• A copy of a current utility bill;
• A bank statement;
• A government check;
• A paycheck; or
• Any other government document that shows the name and address of the individual

Registered voters are urged to check and make sure their address information on file with the department is up-to-date, especially if they have recently had an address or name change.

The Department of Registration and Elections regularly partners with civic, business and religious organizations to conduct voter registration drives. Groups interested in scheduling a drive can contact the Department of Registration and Elections by phone 404-612-7020 or by fax 404-730-7024.
