Atlanta Hawks partner with Fulton County to Renovate the Cliftondale Basketball Court | Print |
ATLANTA - On Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. the Atlanta Hawks, Fulton County Commissioners, Fulton County Parks and Recreation, and Fulton County Arts & Culture will host a ribbon cutting and unveiling, introducing the newly renovated basketball courts at Cliftondale Park, located at 4645 Butner Road, Atlanta, GA 30349.  The partnership between the Hawks and Fulton County Parks and Recreation was the brainchild of Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman John H. Eaves.
“I am so glad that I spearheaded Fulton County’s partnership with the Atlanta Hawks,” said Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman John Eaves.  “Thanks to their generous donations, thousands will have the opportunity to enjoy a first-class basketball court at Cliftondale Park.  I look forward to continuing our relationship with the Hawks, as we invest in other recreational facilities throughout Fulton County.”
As a part of the community-focused court dedication at the Fulton County Parks and Recreation Center, the Hawks Fan Experience team will host interactive games and basketballs decorated by youth artists from the Fulton County Arts and Culture program will be on display.  Last year the NBA franchise, through its Atlanta Hawks Foundation, renovated court facilities at Fulton County’s Welcome All Park.   With six total court renovations completed since 2015, the Hawks have pledged to refurbish a total of 25 courts in five years.   The redone areas have already benefitted over 600,000 local residents, by helping to increase the access to play for children regardless of their economic circumstances.
“The generosity of the Atlanta Hawks, and our valuable work together, will benefit children and families throughout our communities and will help to meet the County’s goals of ensuring that All People are Culturally and Recreationally enriched,” said Tony Phillips, Director of Fulton County Parks and Recreation. “The Cliftondale Court renovation is another positive step forward in the partnership between the Atlanta Hawks and Fulton County Parks and Recreation.”
